Sunday Saunter to the Elephant Park

A leisurely ride to see the Elephants at the Elephant and Castle, mostly traffic free paths and quiet streets, but a couple of potentially busy roads and tricky junctions, so you should be confident cycling in traffic.
We will ride up through Ladywell, Brockley and Peckham to see the Elephants in Elephant Square. The route is generally flat with some gentle climbs, so you will be using your gears.
A wooden pavilion has opened at Elephant and Castle wrapped around a mature plane tree with a rooftop walkway to peer over the local area. Built around an existing London plane tree and clad with Accoya timber, the pavilion is both a building that houses a coffee shop, but also opens up the roof to the public with more seating upstairs and views across the local park.
We will check out the new pavilion and coffee shop, but if it is busy we may stop at the Elephant stores instead.
On previous visits we have been able to leave our bikes inside at the cycle hub, but if we are a big group and/or the Store is busy, we may have to leave them outside so please bring a sturdy lock or two. We should be able to keep our eyes on them depending where we can sit.
We will return via the C10 and Waterlink Way.
