This is what I call a leisure ride. I’m not trying to break any records; I’ll stop if I see something I want to look at; there should be a coffee-and-cake stop; and with all rides, no-one gets left behind. This ride will start from the entrance to Cambuslang Park on Cairns Road. This is the route - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44701632. (If you are not familiar with Ride with GPS, I suggest using the OSM Outdoor map layout). We will be using quiet roads, cycle paths and shared paths as much as possible but there are some short sections of main road. It takes us from Fernhill to Carmunnock, Thortonhall, Jackton, skirts south of Auldhouse and on to Chapelton. This is home to the café at Broadlees Golf which is not only welcoming to cyclists but also, in my opinion, provides very good refreshments. We then head back to Blantyre and return to Cambuslang. The full route is 30.2 miles and I generally aim for 10mph moving speed. Allowing for stops, I’d expect the ride to take about 4 hours.
