Rootle Tootle

We are continuing to stretch our mileage and elevation endurance this summer by exploring the rural Riding of Yorkshire. This route is entirely on roads, some stretches of which will be busier, although we will be making the most of quieter country roads. There are rolling hills throughout and a total elevation of 1600 feet. Confidence to road ride and the ability to keep to a reasonable pace will be needed; expect to be out for an all day adventure with beautiful views.

Starting from Hurworth on Tees, we will work our way through a number of villages to reach our refreshment stop at Roots Cafe, East Rounton, which is c30 miles into the ride. If the local church is open we will also visit the memorial to Gertrude Bell. We can build in a short pit stop enroute at Kiplin Hall for coffee/toilets if necessary, but we ask you to bring drinks and snacks with you too. The last shorter stretch of the ride continues to take us through countryside before returning via Neasham to Hurworth.

We will meet at 9.30am for introductions and bike checks, ready to set off by 9.45am.
It is important that you check your bike is in good working condition before the day and that you bring a spare inner tube to fit your tyres. A helmet and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions are advised.
