Starting point

Roxburghshire
TD1 2DT

Meet at Currie Road car park. We take the cycle path to Winston Road where we turn left up the hill to Melrose Road. At the junction we'll turn right and follow the road for about 1/4 of a mile and then left onto Langshaw Road. We follow the road for 4.5 miles. At the crossroads we take a right towards Blainslie and follow the unclassified road to the T junction where we turn right for Earlston and follow another unclassified road through to a left turn into Earlston. We will then stop at the Rhymers Cafe for coffee, cake and a blether. After the coffee stop we turn left out of the cafe for a short distance on the A68 in Earlston and turn right towards the town centre. We take second right in Earlston towards Redpath. In Redpath we turn right onto another unclassifed road and follow it through to the junction with Leaderfoot Hill. We turn right down Leaderfoot Hill and under the road bridge, turning left onto the cycle path to the Trimontium and Newstead. In Newstead we take Dean Road back to Melrose where we head to the town centre and follow the one way system round town to turn left onto St Mary's Road. At the road end we go straight over onto Huntly Road and rejoin the cycle path to Darnick and then back to Currie Road car park in Galashiels. This is a more challenging route so please bring a drink and some food in case you need to have a rest.

The route will pass under Leaderfoot Viaduct and up past the Trimontium where you have spectacular views of the viaduct and River Tweed

The route is fairly hilly, covering some nice unclassified roads, quiet B roads and cycle paths.

We will call in a The Rhymer's Cafe for coffee, cake and a blether

I would always recommend the wearing of helmets. Bring some food and water with you for this more challenging route. A small rear light (in case of inclement weather) and puncture repair kit is also recommended for the ride

We never leave anyone behind
