Sophia Gardens to Cosmeston Lakes & Cardiff Bay - Let's Ride through Winter!

This is a very pleasant scenic ride along the River Taff to Penarth Marina, where we'll cross over the Millenium Bridge. Then there's a short road section past Cogan station, and uphill and along the country lane to the back of Cosmeston Lakes. We can have a toilet stop there if needed.
We'll then join the cycle path along the old railway line back to Penarth, and cycle down the 'wiggles' and over the Cardiff Bay barrage. We'll have a cafe stop in Cardiff Bay, (approx 30 min) or bring your own refreshments (drink/snack). Toilets are available. We'll then return up the Taff trail to the start.
There are a few short hills, so you should be confident with using your gears and also with cycling in narrow lanes.
We will be cycling on a mixture of traffic free shared cycle paths, quiet roads and country lanes. It is tarmac for most of the way, but there is a short section of grit as we pass the lake in Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, suitable for all bikes.
Bring a lock for the cafe stop, water, money/card for refreshments and your cycle helmet!
