Starting point

Midlothian
EH4 2BH

A scenic cycle along cycle paths and quiet roads with several viewpoints to enjoy as we cross the River Almond at the Cramond Brig, loop in out out of the Dalmeny Estate then through Dalmeny Village to reach the Forth Bridges Viewpoint.

Dropping down into South Queensferry we find the quiet harbour where we'll stop for refreshments, either at the peaceful picnic spot there if the weather is fine, or at the Little Bakery which has indoor seating.

Our return cycle takes us past the hidden walled garden where we'll stop to admire the charming mosaic wall before joining the railway path leading to Dalmeny Village. The shared path beside the road brings us back to the Miller & Carter at Cramond where we'll take a different route to Davidsons Mains before rejoining the Blackhall Path back to our starting point.

The ride is graded 'steady' due to some undulations as we climb towards and loop in and out of the Dalmeny Estate. The terrain is all tarmac apart from a very short section on cobblestones near the harbour in South Queensferry and a short distance through the woodland after Barnton which is compacted gravel. There is one cattle grid to cross and two wide 'kissing' gates to negotiate within the estate. These don't usually present any difficulty for two wheels and should be negotiable by trike.

Helmets are recommended. Bring your own drinks/snacks and money too if you want to buy anything at one of the cafes. Carry your usual kit - spare inner tube(s) and tools required to remove your wheels if necessary or a strategy for getting home with your bike if you are unable to continue for any reason.

A steady ride along cycle paths and quiet roads to the village of South Queensferry.

Mostly cycle paths and quiet roads. All on tarmac with a very short section on cobblestones.

We will pause to enjoy our surroundings and the views, catch our breath and take photos.

We never leave anyone behind
