Do you hate hills? This ride aims to help anyone who hates hills to improve their mental attitude to them by doing a repetition or two, up and down Harefield Road, Rickmansworth - 1.6 miles, or 0.8 mile each way, and 164 feet of elevation. So, although this ride is set at "no set route", it just means that it's up to you how many reps you do.
Harefield Road is a quiet, country road, suitable for any bike with road tyres.
We can stop at the top in the Rose & Crown car park, and again at the entrance to Heron Close. As we will before setting off, we'll share the techniques we have among us in climbing hills on a bike.
Helmets are obligatory and, if you want to have a coffee (other beverages are available) at the Rose & Crown to make your ride complete, bring some means of payment. They open at 12:00, btw.
There is one well-proven way to improve your hill climbing; get out there, and climb some hills.
This is a SPOKES SLOW Pace ride, average speed up to 8 mph organised by SPOKES SW Herts Cycling Group
A training ride with PAUL for anyone interested to improve their hill climbing, using the Rose & Crown car park entrance and Heron Close as safe ways of turning around.
If you are not a SPOKES Member and still wish to join our rides, we do ask that you join us after a maximum 3 rides, for a modest subscription of £12 pa
