Introducing a new meeting point of Rivelin Park Cafe, entrance to Rivelin Park, 72 Rivelin Valley Road, (free on street parking), please meet 15 minutes before the ride start time for a bike and clothing check. We will set off up Rivelin Valley Road, and take a left at the Post Office junction of A57 and wind back to Crosspool, then out of the city up to redmires. It's not a flat ride, but the hills out are very steady, nothing steep, and we'll take our time. It's a lovely scenic route and nearly all downhill on the way home! Perfect for those wanting a nice steady social amble out to blow the cobwebs away. Less than two hours cycling, so should be back for 11.30 for an optional coffee back at the Rivelin Park Cafe. I'm offering this ride to Yorkshire Rose members too so it's a nice chance to meet some club riders who like to ride at a social pace. Make it a date! :-)
The A57 going out can feel busy, but car drivers are used to cyclists on this road. Once through Crosspool the traffic is light and near to the dam there are more dog walkers than cars! :-)
As always, we will stop on riders needs, but as the pace will be steady I think we can probably keep going until we reach the end of the reservoir road, have a rest and a drink and return. This way we can keep warm until we reach the cafe at the end of the ride.
Please please dress warmly, plenty of layers, something windproof and prefereably a waterproof even if the forecast is dry. Helmets are recommended due to type of road we are on. Bring a pump, innertube, and a bottle of drink, and cash for the cafe at the end.
If you've never been on a Breeze ride before, or you are brand new to cycling, please be assured we are all freindly and welcoming, we choose routes that we have risk-assessed and we are trained to make sure the ride is safe and enjoyable for ALL women. if you don't know if this is for you, why not leave me a message on the site and we can talk it through.
