Starting point

Suffolk
IP2 8NH

A summer ride to the Suffolk / Essex border for a route following part of The Painters Trail. The Painters Trail is a circular route through the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Stour Valley, with scenery that inspired some of the world’s greatest landscape painters, including Thomas Gainsborough, Alfred Munnings, and John Constable.

The route through the valley has limited inclines and will not be over challenging for riders with reasonable fitness levels. We never leave anyone behind.

Expect a ride averaging 13/14 mph pace but with interim refreshment stops.

A cafe stop is planned for the Oranges and Lemons cafe at East Bergholt. The cafe stop is at 35 miles, and as such riders in addition to water bottles may wish to carry interim re-fuelling snacks. Regular opportunity will be given for interim refreshment stops on this ride.

Helmet strongly recommended; spare inner tube or other means of addressing punctures, multi-tool and tyre levers to assist repairs as necessary to complete the ride.

Don't forget your sun protection as appropriate for the conditions at this time of the year!
