Pedalling Squares The Old Brassworks Quality Row Road Swalwell

We will leave Pedalling Squares and cycle on the banks of the Tyne to Newburn crossing the bridge and climbing up Newburn Bank then on to the top of Throckley fells before Ponteland. We then cycle into Northumberland through Ogle, Whalton, Meldon, Hartburn, Scots Gap to Wallington. It's then onto Kirkharle, little Bavington, joining the Reivers route 10 to Hallington and following route 10 to Matfen. On the way to Matfen we climb 'The Ryals' which is a challenging climb. Stop at the Matfen cafe for a well earned snack etc before returning to Pedalling Squares via Stamfordham, massive YEEEEE.........HA ride down hill through Throckley watching for pinch points through Newburn and over the bridge to head back for cake, hot chocolate snacks and Fentimans. It's a 58 miler some off road but mainly fantastic country roads with beautiful scenery. You must be able to cycle at between 10-12 mph and be prepared for the challenge of the Ryals as well as the distance. NO Crying allowed until you reach the top. Please ensure your bike is in good working order and that you are carrying at least 2 spare inner tubes in case of punctures. Its quicker and easier to change a tube and it keeps the group moving
