This Community Ride starts at Cambuslang Park, from where we head for Fernhill and on to Carmunnock and Jackton. From there we follow quiet roads to the Heron café. This includes a ride over Ardochrig which can be quite challenging. It is largely downhill to the café from there. The return takes us back over Ardochrig but this is a gentler incline. We then follow mainly quiet roads and cycle paths to East Kilbride and Nerston Village, and return to Cambuslang Park.

Please be aware that we aim for an average speed on the move of 10 – 11 mph. This is not the route for you if you are looking for a much faster road ride.

I describe this route as a leisure ride. We will not be going too fast but we try to maintain a minimum speed on the move of 10 mph. The route tries to avoid busy roads and make use of designated cycle routes as much as possible. We leave and finish at Cambuslang Park. The route takes us out through Carmunnock and Jackton, and on to The Heron Café (near Strathaven. We return through East Kilbride and Nerston Village. Wherever possible, the route follows either roads identified as a cycle route or on quiet roads. There are some short sections of ‘busier’ roads.

The ride heads out to the Heron Café, the southernmost tip of the ride. It is cyclist friendly, and there are toilets. https://theheronfarmshop.com/kitchen-cafe/ If anyone sees something they'd like to stop and look at, we'll stop

This is Scotland and as we all know, the weather can be ‘variable’. Please check the forecast before leaving and come prepared. If the weather looks to be really terrible, the ride is likely to be cancelled.

First-timers welcome but please check the anticipated cycle speed.
