Starting point

Lancashire
L39 6SG

A route from Town Green, Aughton that takes in some of the great cycling countryside of West Lancashire, in and around Ormskirk and Burscough. From our starting point we will head to Scarth Hill and Westhead and on through Lathom, Hoscar, Bispham Green to the Delph Dive Centre. Our return route is via Mawdsley, Rufford, Tarlsough, Downholland and back to Town Green. It will be hard to pass by The Farm at Burscough (which is on our return route) without stopping for a cheeky ice cream!

A circular route from Town Green, Aughton to the Delph Dive Centre through some great cycling countryside.

The majority of the route is on hard surfaced main roads and some cycle paths.

Our planned refreshment stop will be at the Delph Dive Centre after approximately 16 miles although it is likely that we may take additional, unplanned stops due to the forecasted weather conditions on the day. It is going to be very hot!

All riders will be required to wear a helmet and carry spare inner tubes and the means to be able to repair a puncture (assistance will be provided if required). Don't forget some money for the cafe stop (and hopefully ice cream!). You will also need plenty of fluids; please carry as much as you can but we will stop enroute to fill bottles whenever needed.

This is a very scenic route in some excellent cycling countryside and there will be plenty of photo opportunities along the way. We want everyone to enjoy the ride so it will be at a pace to suit all riders in the group and to take account of the weather conditions (usually between 9-11 mph). We will never leave anyone behind!
