Starting point

Greater Manchester
WN7 4JY

*This ride can be challenging to beginners due to climbing hills through out the route & the muddy sections if the weather has been wet days before

Starting off from Leigh College at Leigh Sports Village, the route will be taking the canal tow-path to link up with the Leigh-Manchester Guided Bus-way and a steady ride towards the historical town of Tyldesley. After crossing over through the town you will be at Little Shakerley Common & the start of quiet off road section passing a few farms & kennels/cattery before reaching the bottom of Cutacre Country Park.

Cutacre was once an open cast coal mine, now after being reclaimed & regenerated, it has now become a haven for wildlife to thrive. Currently open & exposed, in future years it will grow into a local beauty spot for all to enjoy.

After a steady climb up through Cutacre, taking in the views of the area, we will take a break at the Junction for refuelling & chat before a nice easy ride back down. After a medium road section in a quiet residential area, you will again pass through Tyldesley then off road heading back to the Guided Busway before going through the woods at the back of Gin Pit, Home of Astley & Tyldesley Cycling Club & getting back onto the canal towpath home towards Leigh Sports Village.

Helmets are compulsory on the ride & wear suitable clothing depending on the weather as the Country Park is exposed to the elements. Spare inner tubes, patches, tools etc. to be carried. Please bring money (cash or card) if you intend to purchase food or drink at the stop.
