This will be a Challenging Ride, paced to average 11-12 mph over the undulating route. We are also running a more leisurely paced ride (c. 7-9 mph) along the Grand Union Canal & up the Nicky Line to the Grand Opening of the New Dacorum Cycle Hub - so you can choose which ride would be best tailored to you! :) With both routes, there'll also be the option of taking the train back to Watford Junction from Hemel Hempstead Station so you can do a shorter ride (c. 23 miles in total) if you would prefer. The road ride version take us up & over the Chiltern Hills to Hemel Hempstead, where we skirt the Town Centre to cut through Gadebridge Park & Piccotts End to climb Dodds Lane to reach the Dacorum Cycle Hub. We will arrive in good time to soak up the atmosphere for the Grand Opening of the new Cycle Hub at 1pm by the Mayor. Afterwards we'll double back & you can take on the 10% climb of Felden Lane, the downhill meander of Holly Hedges Lane & a cruise along Sarratt Green en route back to the Watford Cycle Hub. Georgia Sear & Julian Graham will be teaming up to guide you on this ride, keep the group safe & make it great fun! :) We'll see you on Sunday. Please bring a spare inner tube just in case...; snacks, a drink & money if you want to buy anything. Any questions please email: Georgia at [email protected], or use the Let's Ride Messaging System.
