Who's The Centurions - We Are! 2017

Do You Want To Be A Record Breaker? - Read On.

To celebrate Ride Social we want this ride to be the biggest Ride Social ever!! - and raise money for a good cause as well.

100 riders - 100 miles.

Well, you're going to have to be up early & be fit, healthy & raring to go.

To really top off a wonderful season of riding we're going to visit some of our favourite places, roads, rides & cafe's - Doing the magical 100 miles into the bargain!

This ride will be a combination of our two favourite Fish and Chip rides starting from Leyland we’ll head towards Bretherton and Banks before taking the cycle path down Marine Drive and right down the front before curving back inland and heading for Rufford before going through Mawdesley and back to Leyland.

At this point you can go back to the start point and pick up or drop off anything you want before the second half of the ride.

Heading North around Preston, using part of the Guild Wheel we’ll ride through Inskip & Elswick before hitting the coast for a second time, this time Blackpool. Heading South down to Lytham before turning inland towards Kirkham following one of our favourite routes home via Preston and back to Leyland having conquered the magical 100 mile barrier!

This ride is as flat as I can make it - if you're worried about doing this distance you need to practice, we will have practice rides in the weeks before the ride, & then it's all about time in the saddle, correctly managing your hydration & nutrition on the day.

Last year 82 sent off, most had never ridden that distance before. How many finished? 81!!
This year - It could be you!

Be Prepared
You will need lights as it will be dark around 19.20. You should take 2 inner tubes, a multi tool, pump, suitable clothing, plenty of food & tablets for your drink. Mobile phone, money & a means of navigation. If you don’t navigate correctly you won’t do the 100 miles!

There will be ride briefing documents nearer the time, in the files tab, so please keep an eye on the ride's FaceBook page.

Please check your bike over the night before the ride, tyres inflated, all bolts tight, lubricated. Clothing, Helmet & lights checked & ready.

Please aim to be ready to ride 15 mins before the ride start time, getting away on time is good for everyone.

Ensure you have money, a phone, your navigation tools, food & drinks.
We will help people as much as we can, but ultimately you are responsible for yourself & your bike.

You will need to provide a minimum £10 donation to cover the expenses of the support drivers - every penny left over will go to the charity Embrace Child Victims of Crime.

We have started a Just Giving page as that will ensure the charity receives the money directly & also benefits from gift aid & you can be sure your money goes to the charity.

Minimum £ 10 - no donation, no ride.

Please donate as soon as you have booked on here!

This will be The FC's - The Friendly Cyclists third 100 mile ride. The first year we supported the North West Air Ambulance, last year Milly's Smiles and when we asked who we should support for 2017 Belinda suggested Embrace Child Victims of Crime. She said:
"On 17th September 2017 I'll be riding 100 miles with Craig and The FCs. This year we are raising money for Embrace Child Victims of Crime.
This charity provides practical and emotional support to children and young people; especially those that have been traumatised by their experiences. The vast majority of referrals to Embrace relate to child abuse.
Children have the right to be protected.
Please support this cause."
Well said Belinda.

I'm a British Cycling Ride Leader leading guided rides & I'm also a trained route planner - I enjoy my cycling & appreciate it even more when I have people to ride with.

Our group is called the FC's - Friendly Cyclists
