A pleasant circular route from Roseburn Park to the grounds of Lauriston Castle with its lovely gardens and views over the Forth, with a bonus visit to the well tended Walled Garden at Clermiston as it comes to life in Spring.

From Roseburn Park at the back of Murrayfield Stadium we'll set out along the path beside the Water of Leith towards Balgreen where we take the shared path towards Corstorphine and follow quiet back roads to the Gyle Park.

We'll wind our way through the paths of East Craigs then follow a gentle, almost effortless climb through the quiet roads of Clermiston to reach the lovely Walled Garden where we'll take a break to explore this hidden gem.

Leaving the garden we'll follow downhill paths and quiet roads to reach Davidsons Mains Park and shortly afterwards, our destination at Lauriston Castle. We'll have time to wander around the grounds, savour the views, enjoy refreshments at Mimi's and take a comfort break.

Our homeward route is almost traffic free - joining the Blackhall and Roseburn Paths to return to the new CCWEL at Roseburn Terrace and back into the Park.

The majority of this ride is on shared paths and quiet roads. There are three main roads to cross but we do this at traffic lights.

Bring water and snacks for the journey, money if you want to buy anything at our cafe stop, phone/camera to capture the views if you like!

Helmets are recommended. Ideally, please carry a spare inner tube or two and any tools needed for your bike in the case of a mechanical - or have a plan strategy for getting home should you be unable to continue for any reason (eg friend/taxi)
