This route takes us through some quiet country lanes down to Beaconsfield. However, there is an unavoidable section of the A404 on both the outward and return routes. This is a busy road with cars travelling at speed. Please be aware of this and only sign up if you are comfortable riding in traffic.

This is a series of rides with a theme of Inspirational Women of the Chilterns. ‘I do not wish women to have power over men; but over themselves.’ – Mary Shelley There are four rides, ranging in distance from 20 to 34 miles. Each ride is designed around one or two local women who have been inspirational in their field. The route will take us to a landmark of the women concerned and, of course, will include a café stop. Each ride has some info included about the women. All the rides are suitable for casual riders. While there will inevitably be some hills, the purpose is to enjoy the ride at a leisurely and comfortable pace. The first ride takes us to Beaconsfield to visit the plaques of 2 children’s authors Enid Blyton, author of Noddy, Famous Five, Secret Seven etc. Alison Uttley, author of The Little Grey Rabbit stories https://www.theguardian.com/books/2009/jun/17/diaries-little-grey-rabbit-uttley

The roads are mostly good on this route. It is suitable for road and hybrid bikes. Much of this route is on roads with traffic. There is a section on the A404 that is busy with cars travelling at speed. Please be aware of this and only sign up if you are confident riding in traffic

We will stop in the garden of the town hall where the plaques are located towards the end of the ride and at a cafe in Little Kingshill, towards the end of the ride.

Please wear a helmet, bring spare inner tubes, and a pump. You should have a water bottle and maybe a snack if you need it. Please check your bike over the night before to ensure it is in good working order.

First-timers welcome!
