This adventurous
route follows in the footsteps of the poet John Betjeman to discover
Metro-Land. Starting in Sudbury, close to Betjeman’s beloved Brent Valley, the ride ascends Harrow on the Hill (another Betjeman poem), descending into Harrow Weald then out into the countryside up Clamp Hill and along Old Redding, to enjoy views over the Weald and back towards Harrow Hill. Then it's on to Oxhey Woods and Moor Park, you can stop in Northwood for a breather and to see an iconic suburban road at 16.6 miles from '70's
sitcom heaven! There's so much to see on this great route.
This counter-clockwise route has 1,454 feet of climbs. Notable climbs are Mount Park Rd at 2 miles 7.6%, Clamp Hill at 7.2 miles 7.8%, Oxhey Dr at 10.8 Miles 9.1%, London Rd at 14.8 miles 11% and Hillside Rise at 18.3 miles 6.5%. The pace is expected to average 10 mph over the ride.
