Starting point

London
E20 3AB

This is a counter-clockwise route that circumnavigates the Isle of Dogs for an optional walk through the haunted Greenwich Foot Tunnel to briefly view the Cutty Sark. We will then return through the Tunnel to the north side to complete our Isle of Dogs tour and return to the Velodrome.

Going through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel assumes that both lifts are working. Otherwise, there are 87 stairs on the north side and 100 stairs on the south side, carrying your bike. Therefore, this part of the ride is optional or you could bring a sturdy bike lock to leave your bike on the north side and proceed on foot.

We will mainly be riding on quiet roads and cycle paths. It is relatively flat with only 340 feet of climbs across the 12 mile circuit.

This ride last took place in September 2019.

The Mayor of London has banned non-folded e-bikes on trains since 31 March 2025.

All participants are expected to bring:
• A bike in good working order with tyres pumped to the correct pressure. Please conduct a pre-ride safety check on your bike.
• A cycle helmet.
• Carry at least a spare inner tube, pump and tyre levers.
• Dress for the expected mild dry weather.
• A drink as there is no refreshment stop.
