Leaving Shrivenham we head out on Westend road but just before the A420 we sneak a left and drop a gear to get over the railway bridge and then another gear lower as we meander through Bourton. We follow the road towards Hinton Parva but take another Left to get us to stone #1. Through the village up a couple of collis and down again to Stone #2. By now you'll smell the coffee at Ashbury and after being suitably refreshed we follow the road under the ridgeway admiring the views before dropping down to Stone #3, suitably congratulating ourselves he head back to Shrivenham

The names of several local villages endin in -"Stones" possibly a reference to the fact that they were developed near old roman buildings or roads. We will visit three Stones on this trip

Country Lanes and roads are on the menu; with one or two twee bumps (or collis in Latin).

Refreshments are on offer in exchange for flashing your plastic at the Ashbury Tea rooms

Don’t forget a full water bottle with your favourite thirst quencher. For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted-on then a spanner that fits the wheel nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, (GLOVES) and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or debit card for the refreshment stop. Some place’s only take card payments.

An ideal ride for first timers and those who like to gently ride in the vale of the White Horse in pleasant company
