Start on the Keelman's Way Riverside Path at the East End of Dunston Staiths - near to (not outside of) Dunston Staiths Café.

A bike ride with a difference! We will travel along along the Riverside Path from Dunston to Friars Goose with ecologists Clare and Julia looking out for unexpected wildlife! At the end of the ride we will cycle onto the top of Dunston Staiths before finishing at the Staiths Café.

This is a ride for anyone who has an interest in the wildlife which can be seen along the riverside paths. This is a very leisurely ride and there will be LOTS of stopping to look out for wildflowers, birds and butterflies! We are very fortunate to have Julia to accompany us on the ride as she is an expert ecologist who completed her training in the rainforests of south America before settling in the NE!

The ride is mostly off-road but does involve a minor road which should be quiet on a Sunday.
The ride is more suitable for adults but children over 11 who have an interest in wildlife, especially flowers would be welcome. This ride would suit beginners but you would need to be able to stop and start safely in a group. Please ensure your bike is in sound working order (if necessary please get it checked out by a Dr Bike!) and please bring a spare inner tube and suitable clothing and shoes for cycling. Due to British Cycling rules anyone under the age of 18 will need a cycling helmet and the wearing of music ear phones is not permitted.
We will be heading up to the 4th floor of the BALTIC to look at the Kittiwakes during the ride so please bring a bike lock if you have one.
