THIS RIDE: a long and steady ride to Woolwich in East London using the ferry. Lots of sightseeing along the way, which means we will stop several times. Although this is an easy, flat route with plenty of segregated and shared cycling paths, it’s quite long in mileage and hours, so you need to be able to tackle long distances.
PLACES WE CYCLE PAST: Smithfield Market and the City, Tower Hill, East India Dock, the Royal Docks, Lyle Park, Thames Barrier Park, Greenwich Peninsula, Westminster and Hyde Park.
On our way to our destination, we will stop for a rest and a quick coffee at the Yurt Café in Limehouse. Our lunch break is at Woolwich Works, a cultural hub that holds art exhibitions, music and theatre, and has an amazingly large café. On our way back, we will have another rest break in Southwark Park.
THE ROUTE: Mainly segregated and shared paths, and cycle lanes C27, C6, NCN13, Lower Lea Crossing, the Woolwich ferry, NCN1, NCN4, C4, and C14.
We aim to be back at around 5pm.
