This route takes us south from Pinner through Northala Fields to the canal at Willowtree Marina. We head along the Paddington Arm of the Grand Junction Canal to its junction at Bulls Bridge, where we turn east towards Heston. We reach the Great West Road and ride its protected cycle track to Osterley. We'll stop in the Stables Cafe for refreshments before heading north through Norwood Green back to the canal, passing through the Three Bridges designed by Brunel and turning left up the Brent River at Ealing Hospital. We'll return north via Brunel's Wharncliffe Viaduct, Hanwell and Greenford, mostly on quiet roads and cycle paths, to Northolt and up Alexandra Avenue to Pinner. There is a variety of landscapes from canalside gardens and interesting houseboats to industrial areas and golf courses. The Stables cafe offers National Trust scones and other goodies.

This is a longish ride with more than 4 miles on canal towpath. Hybrid bikes are best, as there are some rough surfaces unsuitable for road bikes. Before you come please check that your bike is in tiptop working order, that the brakes work, the tyres are pumped up and the wheels turn freely. Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. We're a friendly supportive group and no one is ever left behind.
